Selected Work
These are not job descriptions. They are problems that mattered, and what happened when Nicholas was the one responsible for solving them.
Raising $650,000 for an Indigenous Sport Gallery
The BC Sports Hall of Fame needed to build an Indigenous Sport Gallery, a project that required funding, community trust, and institutional credibility that did not yet exist. Nicholas led the capital campaign from conception to completion. He secured government grants, foundation support, and corporate sponsorship while building relationships with Indigenous communities and sport leaders. The gallery opened as a permanent installation. The $650,000 raised represented the largest fundraising achievement in the institution's recent history.
Building Canada's First Digital Stadium Experience
At TELUS, Nicholas saw an opportunity to connect the company's brand with the live sport experience in a way that had not been done in Canada. He launched a digital fan experience practice that debuted at BC Place and expanded to Commonwealth Stadium, Scotiabank Saddledome, and TD Place. The program created a new model for corporate-community partnership at scale, one that delivered measurable value for the brand while genuinely improving the fan experience.
Pandemic Advocacy and the Select Standing Committee
When the pandemic shut down cultural institutions across British Columbia, Nicholas did not wait for someone else to make the case for relief. As CEO of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, he organized advocacy efforts, built coalitions with peer institutions, and testified before the BC Legislature's Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services. That testimony contributed to emergency funding that kept cultural organizations operational during the province's most difficult period.
Invictus Games 2025, Official Supplier
Element Event Solutions was a mid-sized event company competing for a role in one of the world's most visible sporting events. Nicholas led the bid that secured Element as an official supplier for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. The process required operational credibility, brand discipline, and the ability to meet international standards of delivery. It was proof that a well-led Canadian company could compete on that stage.
